When I was younger, I just thought Pentecostals were Baptists who liked to wave tambourines in their worship services.
For those of you who regard that as a shallow comment unworthy of a response, here’s the playlist.
However, to me there is one awkward point about writing songs celebrating the Feast of Pentecost. Although we all appreciate that the Holy Spirit is wholly divine, He possesses intellect, will and emotions, He shares the same divine attributes as the Father and the Son such as omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence and eternality. His greatest joy comes from our following His inspiration and empowerment to glorify the Son and bring about the Father’s kingdom. Worshipping Him, though valid, seems to get in the way of all that.
Worship, as prayer, interceding for His power to descend upon us to enable us to glorify the Son appeals more to me, as you might guess from the twelve songs I’ve curated in a variety of styles.
